Summer Party Ideas

By in Experience Design + Management, Thought Pieces

Every year at RPMC, it seems that with the coming and going of the May Bank holidays, thoughts turn to the summer and the now infamous RPMC Summer Party.

In past years this has ranged from an all action Monopoly day around London (very competitive, a lot of fun and no need to go to the gym for a few days after!), a Eurostar trip to Paris with lunch on the Seine (think Champagne breakfast, berets, baguettes, Eiffel Tower, …) to our very own RPMC Bake Off producing cakes and sweet treats that would gain even Mary Berry’s approval.

But what to do for the summer of 2015? The pressure is for event planners to find something truly unique that we shall regale tales of in years to come.  Here are a few ideas worth putting on the table:

The Garden Party

Celebrate the Great British summer with a glass of Pimms in hand and a croquet mallet at your side. Add in your colleagues, a sumptuous BBQ, free-flowing drinks and the quintessentially English back drop of The Hurlingham Club. You have got yourself a truly memorable day at one of London’s hidden gems.

Gin Voyage!

Gin is proving to be particularly popular at RPMC and what better way to enjoy this summer’s tipple of choice than aboard the Disco Volante – ‘a wondrous 12 berth canal cruiser’.  Aboard the Volante, which is understood to be the world’s first ‘legal’ floating distillery, you will enjoy a number of gin based cocktails showcasing gin’s connection with the seven seas.  Steady as she goes disembarking!

The Day at the Races

Fancy getting dressed up? Then why not head to a day at the Races. Less than an hour outside of London, Windsor Racecourse is the perfect location with the idyllic backdrop of the River Thames.  Arrive by boat and treat your colleagues to a box overlooking the finishing line with a 3 course lunch, afternoon tea, and late night music entertainment.  Who knows, you may even come away better off than you started if your luck is in with the gee-gees!

The Adrenaline Junkies

Let your team loose on the challenging 300m Olympic Standard White Water Competition course.  For the thrill seekers and outdoor types among you, not much matches the adrenaline that pumps through your veins as you hurtle down grade four rapids with Bob from accounts shouting ‘Paddle! Paddle! Paddle!’ in your ear while you hold on for dear life. Named the ‘best white water course in the world’, this unique experience will not disappoint.

Take a Punt

Enjoy a glass of bubbles and a selection of canapés on Jesus Green before boarding your punt and embarking on your tour of the Cambridge Colleges. The tour covers the full length of the magnificent colleges as well as passing under 9 bridges. Upon your return, feel free to have a go at mastering the art of punting with some expert tuition from your chauffeur, followed by lawn games and a luxury picnic.

Of course there are many more ideas currently being thrown about – some definitely more suitable than others! We see our summer party purely as market research, or at least that’s what we tell the boss!
